What do we do at practice?

At Memory Lane Singers practices our objective is to create a welcoming experience of joy, learning and friendship. We promote a family atmosphere and encourage our members to get to know each other through music and laughter.
Every member gets a nametag to make it easier for each of us to remember names, and a three ring binder with the music we will be singing at our next concert.
During the course of practice we take short time-outs for jokes (good and bad), humorous and thought provoking videos and slide-shows, any questions or comments from anyone on the music, the afore mentioned videos and slide shows, and stories and anecdotes any member would like to share pertaining to the subjects at hand.
And, of course, there's a social time after each practice to help make it easier to get to know one another, during which cookies and coffee are served.
During the summer, in June, July and August we get together twice a month for Summer Sing-Alongs. During these Sing-Alongs we sing songs we all know (with the aid of the printed words of each song) from the 40's, 50's, 60's and some 70's. As we do during practices, we sing, we laugh, tell jokes and have interesting videos and slide shows. We take the time to listen to our members and get to know a little about each other. And, as always, we have a social time with cookies and coffee afterwards.
