About the
Memory Lane Singers
(Scroll down for more)
The Memory Lane Singers choir was born in the Fall of 2018 as the Voices of Impact, nestled under the umbrella of Impact Services of Anoka County, a non-profit organization that has been serving Anoka and surrounding communities, delivering Meals on Wheels for over fifty years. Voices of Impact, the brainchild of the acting Executive Director of Impact Services at the time, Steve Griffiths, approached well known former area choir director, Bruce Phelps, to fill the director's position. After some careful thought, Bruce accepted the position and the choir was born. Voices of Impact offered music and a friendly social environment for Seniors with memory issues, their care-givers and volunteers who enjoy working with Seniors.
In the Spring of 2024, after it's sixth year in existence, Voices of Impact was informed by Impact Services they could no longer support the choir financially. Rather than shut down, the core leaders of the choir, along with the members, held a meeting and decided the choir was just too important not to continue.
Forming a make-shift Board of their own, they decided to break ties with Impact Services, and under a new name venture out on their own as a non-profit organization.
Thus, in the Spring of 2024, the Memory Lane Singers Choir was born. Our objective is to create a caring, safe environment through music and laughter for those with memory issues, their care-givers and volunteers who enjoy working with Senior Citizens.
